GLEN ALLEN, VA -- The Richmond Generals are happy to say they continue to see their players making their college hockey dreams come true.

Their most recent success story is that of Adam Czarnecki, a Schaumberg, Ill., resident who played three years of junior hockey towards his NCAA goal. This past year, his sole season with the Generals, was his best. He rode that success to a commitment with the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

He was the ultimate power forward for Richmond, scoring 26 goals and 28 assists for a team-leading 54 points in 48 games, and he also led the Generals in penalty minutes with 173.

“Adam was one of the most recruited and top all around forwards in the Premier Division this season,” said head coach R.C. Lyke. “Adam is extremely fast and explosive and has a very high hockey IQ to go along with excellent hands and vision on the ice. Adam's skill set, speed and vision make him extremely dangerous whenever he is on the ice with the puck.

“One of the best things about Adam's game is, as skilled as he is, his play away from the puck is just as good,” Lyke added. “Adam's compete level, work ethic and character are off the charts, which makes him a fun player to watch, coach, and more importantly an asset to any team he plays for.”

Fellow NCAA Division 3 commitments from this season include Alec Allen and Zach Pierce, going together to Worcester (Mass.) State University, Cameron Sangste rto Becker College and Peter Costa to Anna Maria College. J.T. Kossakowski has committed to Division 2 Southern New Hampshire University.

Mike Curran and Adam Backe committed to Aquinas College and Lawrence Tech, respectively. Both are members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Three other players are going to ACHA Division 1 teams – Peyton Nash (Liberty), David Mitchell (Colorado University) and Jacob Ugenti (Mercyhurst).

“Curtis Foster, Taylor Urch and Rob Ivy will be making their NCAA Division 3 decisions later this week,” said Lyke, on May 1. “Travis Broughman will be making his NCAA Division 1 decision here in the next month.”

In terms of junior advancement, Miro Sistonen is set to play for the Aberdeen Wings (NAHL) next year. Other players pushing for Division 2 opportunities in several different leagues include Adam Olson, Patrick Pratapas, Kyle Clausen, Nathan Sargent, Connor Close and Gideon Cooper.

There are still a few spots remaining on the Generals’ 2018-19 USPHL Premier team. Interested players, please contact Coach Lyke at coach@richmondgenerals.com
