The Northeast Generals have made several moves ahead of Thursday’s NAHL Trade deadline. The first domino to fall was the trade of 4 year player and Captain Joe Nagle to the New Jersey Titans.

“Joe is the best kid. He works his butt off every day, he has been here for 4 years and has played under our youth umbrella for longer. We think D1 scouts might have a little fatigue on him seeing him play the same style with many of the same kids. Joe and I spoke at length and felt that maybe the best chance to get him a Division 1 deal was to let schools see him play in a different environment. It was a very emotional move for both us. But at the end of the day we always need to do what is best for the kid first and the team second. Joe is going to one of my closest friend in hockey, Craig Doremus, who I trust will help get a deal over the finish line. We wish Joe the best of success and thank him for his countless contributions to the Generals organization. We will miss him for sure.” said Generals Head Coach and GM Bryan Erikson.

With that move several other moves happened. Dylan Schuett has been named Captain and Charlie Reid has been elevated to Assistant Captain. “Dylan has been a tremendous leader for us on and off the ice all year as an Assistant Captain and I thought it was the logical move as he will be back with us next year as well. He has a ton of natural leadership qualities and also learned a ton from Joe. Really happy for Dylan. And Charlie (who just committed to play hockey at Wentworth) has been awesome for us all year. He has a tremendous amount of respect in the locker room and battles super hard both in practice and in the games.” continued Erikson.

In addition to the above changes Northeast Generals NAPHL U18 D man Adam Smith (tendered earlier this year) has been added to the roster for the remainder of the season. His play at the U18 level and at NAHL practices has proven him ready for an everyday role.

Within the deal (a 3 team deal that included Corpus Christi) that sent Nagle to New Jersey the Generals acquired super skilled forward Kyle Schroeder from Corpus with additional assets coming from New Jersey to Northeast.

Schroeder is a 2001 LW/C from Illinois that has had success this year while also being an Assistant Captain for the Ice Rays. Kyle played the 2018-2019 season in Chippewa where he had 10 points in 33 games and also spent time in the USHL. In 2019-2020 Kyle has 19 points in 44 games. “Kyle is a player we have had our eye on for the last 3 years. Love his compete level, his vision on the ice and his ability to play anywhere in the lineup. He was a very young Captain and is very mature both on and off the ice. We are very excited to be adding his offensive abilities while we push for a playoff spot in our last 22 games.” said Erikson.
