The Northern Cyclones enter a new year and a new decade as the No. 1 destination in all of U.S. Junior Hockey for advancement to College Hockey.

The Junior Hockey news and research website tjhpodcast.com regularly tracks advancement from around the United States to all corners of college hockey. At the time of their 2019 research on NCAA Division II/ III advancement in November, the Cyclones had advanced 17 players to college hockey. This is based on freshmen on NCAA rosters in the 2019-20 season.

The players came from three different Northern Cyclones teams - 11 came from the USPHL Premier, five came from the National Collegiate Development Conference and one went directly to the NCAA from the USPHL 18U Division.

Those 17 players brought the number of active NCAA players from the Cyclones to an amazing 52. With a two-rink facility co-owned by the Head Coach of the NCDC team, Bill Flanagan, and the Head Coach of the Cyclones Excited About No. 1 Overall Ranking For Division II/III College Advancement Elite team, Joe Flanagan, there are seemingly endless opportunities for high-level development at the junior level.

The Northern Cyclones Academy program runs the USPHL Midget teams, providing a platform that combines education and hockey training with a synergy seen nowhere else in the United States.

Cyclones players don’t just fill NCAA roster spots - they excel once they’re there. Nolan Redler, an Alternate Captain for UMass-Boston, scored 12 goals in the first 11 games of his senior season this year.

Anthony Quatieri, a sophomore at Connecticut College, is clicking at a better than point per game pace (10 through eight games). Three other players are a point away from that pace in NCAA hockey this year.

Former Cyclones goalies David Altman (Assumption College) and Jimmy Poreda (SUNY-Plattsburgh) have save percentages of .920 and .915, respectively.
