Defending USPHL Elite Champions Heating Up

The Richmond Generals Elite team - the reigning USPHL Elite Champion - is undefeated in its last 12 games and is starting to roll and gel as a group.

The charge is being led up front by ‘01 forwards Cooper Neal, Dominic Hollister and ‘00 Luke Dosen.

The Generals have also added ’01 forward Kaden Hardesty to their already deep and talented Elite lineup.

“Hardesty has been playing in Finland and is a smooth-skating, physical, two-way forward who is expected to put up points and be reliable in both ends of the ice,” said Generals Head Coach and GM R.C. Lyke.

The Elite’s defensive end has been paced by ‘00 Tyler Roepke, ‘02 Lane Snell and ‘03 Brady Burke.

Nick Bernstein (‘01) leads the entire USPHL Elite in wins, goals against average, save percentage and shutouts, and was the USPHL Elite South Goaltender Of The Month for both September and October for his efforts.

“The Premier team is finding its stride and starting to really show just how strong, talented, and deep its lineup is,” said Lyke.

Up front, one of last year’s top Elite players Matt Dougherty (‘99) is helping to lead the way, along with ’00’s Matt Wood and Adam Krofchalk, and ‘01 Andrej Kiss.

Defensively, ‘00’s Brennan Luckanish (Captain) and Alex Walsh have worked extremely well alongside ‘02 Zachary Correia.

“In net, ‘99 goalies Ryan Creenan and Thomas Lemire have been splitting the loads and giving the Generals a chance to win every night they are in the pipes,” Lyke added.

The Generals have also been bolstering their lineup lately. On the Premier side, they’ve added Charles LePage and Charles Massey, both 2000s.

“Lepage is a 00 goalie who brings size and has Tier-2 junior experience,” Lyke said. “Massey brings scoring, playmaking, toughness and speed to our lineup.”

Declan Murphy (‘02) is a newcomer who will see action likely on both teams the rest of this season.

“Declan is a solid, smart, skilled puck-moving forward who can play in a lot of different situations for our teams.”
