WILMINGTON, MA -- News out of the Shamrocks camp late in April helped bring a pleasant close to the 2018-19 season, the final uncommitted senior/post-grad player made her decision.

Kaela Thomson, a forward from Norwalk, Connecticut, announced she would be attending Dalhousie University, located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She’ll be joining a Tigers team who finished 10-18 on the season and fell just four points short of the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) playoffs.

In 24 JWHL games, Thomson registered 16 points, on nine goals and seven assists. She tied for the league lead in points, while leading the team in goals. Thomson had a pair of three-game point streaks, the first coming in November and the second concluding her season.

With her decision, the Shamrocks have all seniors or post-grad students committed for the 2019-20 season. The team will now look to further their development model and get next year’s seniors committed 100 percent.

In other Shamrocks news, University of Vermont head coach Jim Plumer has selected Boston Shamrocks alumna Ali O'Leary as co-captain for the Catamounts 2019-20 season.

"This group really represents what is important to our program," said Plumer. "[T]hey bring all of the qualities we want in a leadership group: work ethic, integrity, positivity, and on-ice performance. I am really looking forward to working with them next year and seeing our program take a step forward."

An assistant captain last season, O'Leary enters her senior season having played in 105 games for the Catamounts. The Reading, Mass. native had six points in 33 games last season. In 2015-16 she had eight goals and 14 assists for 22 points in 28 games with the Boston Shamrocks. ESPNBoston.com named her "Miss Hockey" as the top female high school hockey player in Massachusetts.
