FORT MYERS, FL -- The Florida Eels once again are criss-crossing the U.S., Canada and Europe in its quest for impact players for its Premier and Elite teams.

The Eels’ General Manager, and the USPHL Premier and Elite coaches, are on the road attending over 12 junior prospect showcases and camps this Spring and Summer.

Already, the Eels were at St. Louis, Mo., at the USA Hockey High School All-Star Nationals, the California Prospects Showcase, and the Canadian Jr. Rangers Prospects Showcase in Montreal at the end of April. They have also spent time scouting in Detroit and Massachusetts.

In May, the Eels will have two teams at the USPHL Spring Showcase (May 10-12) and one team at the Pro-Am Pre-Draft Showcase.

“Between these two events, we will see more than 80 teams,” said general manager Frank Scarpaci. “That same weekend, we will have a scout at the Global Showcase in Vancouver.”

Shortly thereafter, the Eels head to the CCM Showcase in Denver, and then Global in Chicago and Global in Las Vegas.

The Eels will be hosting their own tryouts the weekend of June 29-30 in Florida. Interested players can register for these tryouts at floridaeelsjrhockey.com.

The Eels will be sending GM Frank Scarpaci to Slovakia in June and complete its showcase series with the two USPHL Combines: One in June in Lansing, Mich. (June 6-7), and one over the July 29-30 weekend in Chicago.

The Eels leave no stone unturned in scouting and recruiting players. This has been their mode of operation for 10 years and will be the same this season.

The Eels had 42 of its players come from outside of Florida last season and we expect that to be the same this year. Twenty-three of those 42 came from Canada and Europe.

Florida Eels Junior Hockey program is truly an international program.
