The Connecticut Oilers turned in a solid performance at the Eastern Junior Hockey League Summer Showcase.
The Oilers and the Oilers Futures teams both finished 2-1 in the competitive tournament. Several players took advantage of the event to showcase their skills and came away with standout performances.
Jeremy Heinle from the Oilers tallied points in all three games as he put his speed, strength and experience on display. He also did a solid job in the face-off circle.
“Having played for the [Atlantic Junior League’s New Jersey] Rockets last year, you can see his hockey IQ and junior experience are going to serve him well going forward,†assistant coach Chris Gragnano said.
Andrew Silard stepped up as well at the showcase, providing contributions at both the offensive and defensive ends of the ice. He often blocked shots and won several battles on the Oilers’ end of the ice.
“His size and physicality are going to make him a really effective player next year and a real asset to our club,†Gragnano said.
